Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)
What is IPL Photorejuvenation?
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) has advanced over the past 30 years to effectively treat both red and brown discolorations. Also called a photofacial, IPL photorejuvenation at Summit Dermatology is a gentle, safe, and effective treatment to correct sun damage and signs of early aging.
What are the Benefits of IPL Treatment?
- Targets brown spots and redness
- Treats face, neck, chest and any other body areas
- Slows aging
- Stimulates collagen production
How is IPL Treatment Performed?
IPL photorejuvenation with InMode’s Lumecca and Sciton’s Forever Young BBL devices use a broad spectrum of light to target brown spots and redness while simultaneously stimulating the body to produce more collagen. The result is a brighter, more even-toned appearance. The IPL is performed in about 15 to 20 minutes, and requires no anesthesia. Popular treatment areas include the face, neck, and chest – virtually any area that shows discoloration as a result of sun exposure.
What is the Recovery from IPL Photorejuvenation?
Following the procedure, the treated area may be pink and minimally swollen. Some brown spots will darken for 3 to 5 days before fading away completely. A series of treatments is recommended for best results followed by maintenance treatments every 4-6 months.
